Villamayor de Monjardin is a picturesque mountain village on the Camino, the pilgrim’s trail to Santiago de Compostela. About halfway between the cities of Pamplona and Logroño.
Villamayor lies against the southern slope of the mountain Monjardin. At the top of the mountain is a castle ruin. The village is surrounded by vineyards and near the entrance is a bodega (winery). The last piece of the Camino is quite steep; quite a climb for the tired pilgrim…
The terrace offers a beautiful view of the surroundings. There are pretty and challenging walking trails, close by or somewhat further away. But the most popular path is of course the pilgrim’s trail. In season around 400 pilgrims pass each day.
Located on the village square, in a couple of old houses, is our simple pilgrim’s hostel. Guests may sleep for a minimal cost on bunk beds. A few 2-3 person rooms are available for an additional charge. There is a total of 28 beds available.
